We Overthink Because We “Underfeel”

Human beings can have a tendency to overthink. And this tendency can reveal itself in moments of stress, discomfort, and struggle. In these moments, we may be inclined towards not being in the moment, because it is too difficult, or perhaps too painful. So we “check out” on our feelings as we head deeper into our minds and try to latch onto some reasoning or rationalization.

But what we don't realize is that when we reject our feelings we cheat ourselves out of being fully human. No argument here that some emotions can be hard on the spirit. But abandoning them is way worse.
